The national flower industry development and exchange meeting was held on the 21st in Beihai City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. According to the 25 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) present, incomplete statistics show that by the end of 2007, there was more than 800 mu of land for planting flowers; and their production value reached nearly 480 billion.

Yunnan Flower Industry is the National Champion. In 2007, acreage reached 36.6 million mu; and the total output value reached 8.4 billion. "Yunnan Flower" has a domestic market share of more than 70% in over 70 large and medium-sized cities; and exports to 42 countries and regions, with a value of 85 million US dollars every year. In addition, Zhejiang, Henan, Sichuan, Liaoning, Fujian, and Shandong provinces each witnessed flower output values in 2007 exceeding 3 billion yuan.

Flower cultivation consists of fresh cut flowers, plants, and ornamental, medicinal and edible flowers; and has become an important channel for farmers' wealth.
